Culinary Screenings at the Haifa International Film Festival

September 30, 2018 By Travel Magazine

Two documentaries of the director Iñigo Ruiz were presented at the Haifa International Film Festival – SEARCHING FOR UMAMI and WELCOME MONSIEUR ROBUCHON. Both documentaries are essentially shameless self-promoting flicks of the Andalucian chef Dani García. If WELCOME MONSIEUR ROBUCHON was conceived as a tribute to the recently passed great chef, it failed miserably. Shot with some horrible red filter which left humans looking like freshly cooked lobsters, the documentary does not provide any insights to personality of the great French chef, actually it has nothing to do with Robuchon, it is a tribute of Dani Garcia to Dani Garcia.

After the screenings Israeli TV host Hila Alpert interviewed one of the godfathers of the Israeli culinary world Mr. Kadosh. Some wine refreshments and finger food (which would definitely make MONSIEUR ROBUCHON to turn in his grave) have been served after screenings.
