HaSandak Italian Restaurant, Jerusalem

December 21, 2017 By Travel Magazine Tagged With: HaSandak Italian Restaurant, jerusalem

The Italian restaurant HaSandak, located at Yafo street just opposite the entrance ot Mahane Yehuda Market, disappoints in a big way. HaSandak in Hebrew means Godfather. If Italian mafia memebers were to choose this place to dine, this imaginable dinner would have ended tragically for restaurant owners. Italian cuisine is all about flavor, flavor and more flavor. All dishes at HaSandak are absolutely tasteless, tasteless as paper, tasteless as golden-plated cutlery served, as a loud Mizrahi (Orintal) music invasively pouring out of restaurant’s loudspeakers. Antipasti is a mix of either pre-steamed or defrozen precooked veges that was quickly put on grill for apperance sake. Tomato pasta looks better than it tastes for simple reason that it does not taste at all. Pizza Margarita was served without any trace of basil. Pazza base is more like matzo. The price of mediaocre wine is ourageous, about NIS 50 per glass or NIS 150 for a bottle.

If you are facing HaSandak and considering it for a lunch, do yourself a favor – make a 180 degree turn and go Mahane Yehuda Market, anything is better than overpriced and tasteless Italian food.
